A single source specialty grade peaberry coffee grown by the farmers of Gatomboya, a small farmer collective in the hills of Kenya. This coffee is light, almost to the point of being refreshing.

We taste notes of ruby red grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, mango

Product information

Origin

Kenya | Gatomboya Peaberry

Peaberry coffee beans are the result of a mutation which changes the beans shape from the tradition flat side accompanied with a rounded opposing side to a completely rounded bean. This mutation is not noticeable from the outside of the coffee cherry and must be hand sorted by the individual farmers.

Gatomboya is one of the four washing stations in the Barichu Farmers Cooperative Society of 4000 smallholder coffee producers. Gatomboya specifically services around a quarter of those. Barichu is known for taking good care of its member producers and the nearby community. The Cooperative Society built a coffee shop on the factory grounds that services travelers on the nearby road. The income of this shop helps lower the overhead costs for the management of the cooperative and factories.
